Adamawa tribunal sets date to deliver judgment between Binani, Gov. Fintiri

The Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has scheduled the delivery of its judgment on the legal challenge to the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for October 28, 2023.

The case was brought forth by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani Dahiru, who contested the victory of Governor Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 2023 gubernatorial election.

The petition raised allegations of extensive violations of electoral laws and fraudulent voting practices. In addition, APC and Binani sought the tribunal’s validation of Hudu Yunusa Ari’s declaration as the election winner.

The Peoples Democratic Party and Fintiri, in response, filed a motion requesting the dismissal of the case brought by APC and Binani.

Notably, Senator Aishatu Binani Dahiru urged the tribunal to expedite its judgment before the arraignment of the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari, scheduled for November 6, 2023. Hudu faces multiple charges, including announcing false electoral results, breaching his oath of neutrality, disorderly conduct during elections, inciting disturbance, and personating a public servant.
