Bandits in Kogi abduct popular Islamic cleric, brother
Renowned Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi, and his younger brother have been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Kogi State.
The incident occurred while the cleric and others were transporting the body of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government of Kogi State for burial on Sunday. They encountered the kidnappers along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road at Oshokoshoko.

One of the occupants of the vehicle who managed to escape abduction confirmed the incident to News Point Nigeria.
According to the survivor, they were traveling ahead of the vehicle carrying the late Sheikh Musa’s remains.
Following their abduction, the victims’ phone lines have been switched off, but a source revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family on Tuesday morning, demanding a ransom of N10 million for their release.
The State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara, has confirmed the incident and assured that security agents in the state are making every effort to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
Authorities are diligently working to ensure the safe return of Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his brother, as their loved ones and the community await positive news amidst this difficult situation.
