Bandits have released prominent Kaduna Islamic scholar, Malam Abubakar Mushawy Ibrahim, whowas held captive for two months. However, his 14-year-old son and brother-in-law remain in the hands of the bandits.
On August 9, 2023, these criminals forcibly entered the scholar’s home in Fondisho, a community along the Kaduna-Zaria highway, abducting him, his wife, newborn baby, and eldest son. Tragically, this incident occurred just a day after the scholar’s wife gave birth to their newborn.

An anonymous close associate of the scholar revealed that the bandits released the wife and newborn child after a month of captivity. The scholar himself was released 10 days ago, following the payment of an undisclosed ransom. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital for nine days to receive medical care, provided by his family.
However, the 14-year-old son and the wife’s brother, who was sent to deliver the ransom, are still being held captive. The family expressed their inability to provide more ransom due to having exhausted their resources.
The associate lamented the lack of government assistance during their ordeal, emphasizing that only relatives and friends contributed to the ransom that secured the scholar’s release.
