Controversial singer Naira Marley in police custody following Mohbad’s death
On Tuesday night, controversial singer Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as “Naira Marley,” was taken into custody by the Lagos State police for questioning and further investigation into the death of his former record label client, Mohbad.
According to the statement released by the State Police’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, Fashola has been remanded into custody for further questioning and investigation.
Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday evening, Marley stated that he had returned to Lagos to assist with the investigation and expressed his hope that the truth would be revealed, and justice served.
The autopsy on Mohbad was completed by pathologists last week, and the police are awaiting the results.
A police spokesperson confirmed in an exclusive interview that the autopsy had been completed, and the results were being awaited.
A team of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and health personnel exhumed Mohbad’s body during the previous week. The police officers also arrested a nurse accused of administering an injection to Mohbad before his death on September 12th.
A coroner’s investigation into the singer’s death was filed at Lagos’ State Magistrate’s Court in Iwo last Friday.
