Gunmen attack Plateau community at night, kill 9 villagers
In a devastating incident on Monday, a late-night attack by gunmen in Adu village, Kwal District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State resulted in the loss of nine innocent lives.
According to Nuhu Bitrus, the spokesperson for the Miango Youths Development Association, the attack took place at approximately 9 pm on Sunday. The community was compelled to cancel their planned activities for Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary and instead dedicated the day to mourning and praying for the safety of their people.

Expressing his grief, Mr. Bitrus stated, “We are not happy that we are today mourning the death of nine of our people in Adu village who were killed last night (Sunday) in an attack.” He went on to mention that the community had intended to celebrate Nigeria’s independence but instead had transformed the event into a solemn prayer day to ensure the safety of their communities.
Mr. Bitrus appealed to the government to take swift action to prevent further assaults on Bassa communities, urging them to prioritize the security of the affected areas.
As of now, the Plateau State Police Command has not yet responded to the attack.
