Gunmen storm lawmaker’s residence in Kwara, kidnap wife, 2 children
Heavily armed bandits have abducted the wife and two children of a lawmaker in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr Lawal Ayanshola Soliu.
It was gathered that the abductors stormed the country home of the legislator in Shao, in the Moro local government area of Kwara State around 1:00 am on Monday with AK-47 rifles, shooting sporadically before whisking the victims away, Punch reports.
Lawal is the legislator representing the Ipaiye/Malete/Olooru State Constituency of Moro Local Government in the state House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The source further said that the whereabouts of the victims have remained unknown as of Tuesday afternoon.
One of the kidnappers who contacted the family said he was not yet with his colleagues in the forest to harmonise their price,” the source added.
Calls made to the lawmaker via the telephone on Tuesday were not answered.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said details are still sketchy but would issue a statement to the press after receiving comprehensive details of the incident.
