Kidnappers release abducted Nasarawa Varsity lecturer after ransom payment

Kidnappers have released Dr. Comfort Adokwe, a lecturer at Nasarawa State University, who was abducted from her residence on Sunday.

Neptune Prime reports that gunmen seized Adokwe, a lecturer at the university’s Faculty of Administration and the school’s deputy director for gender studies, on Sunday night from her home in Angwan Jaba in Keffi.

The source claimed that the kidnappers’ original ransom demand was N100,000,000.

The source said that the family had paid an undisclosed sum to free her.

However, Timothy praised the military and the Department of State Services, DSS, for their role in Comfort’s release.

Timothy claimed that although they were unable to approach Comfort directly to protect her, they were still keeping an eye on her via satellite.

“Actually, the police were not there, but the military and the DSS were involved, but at the outskirts because they tried to monitor from their satellite and know the location, but you know, they can’t just enter directly,” he said.

Adokwe added that his sister had been brought to an unnamed hospital for a checkup, but added that she was fine and had met up with her husband and daughter again.

He encouraged the authorities to put an end to the prevalence rate of kidnapping in the state.

He claimed that the same place was where the university’s vice chancellor was rescued after being kidnapped in the past.
