According to the state chairman of the PDP, Hon. Chris Hassan, “Hon. Tari was abducted after a meeting with his Executive Committee of the Jos South Local Government Chapter at the party office in Bukuru”. He had stopped at Total Filling Station in Bukuru and was surrounded by two Toyota Hilux Pick-up trucks with military colors and number plates.
“Men in Nigerian army uniforms forcibly took him and drove off in one of the trucks. Meanwhile, one of the soldiers forced his niece out of Hon. Tari’s car”.
As of now, there has been no communication from the abductors, and his family remains unaware of his whereabouts or the reason behind the abduction. The PDP and concerned authorities have reported the incident to various security agencies in the state, hoping for a swift resolution.
The state chairman emphasized that this brazen abduction, carried out in a commando style, poses a serious threat to the fragile peace being enjoyed in the state.
In response to the incident, Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, expressed unawareness of the situation and cautioned against assuming that the perpetrators were actual military personnel solely based on their attire. He challenged the PDP and witnesses at the scene to provide evidence that would enable the military to take appropriate action.
This distressing incident calls for immediate attention and collaboration between the concerned parties to ensure the safe return of Hon. Tari and uphold the security of the region.
