Security operatives in Enugu neutralise wanted IPOB/ESN criminals

In a joint operation, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, and the Neighborhood Watch Group successfully neutralized a suspected subversive criminal linked to the IPOB/ESN. The operation took place at Igbele village in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area on Saturday, following credible intelligence that the nonstate actors had blocked the road.

According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the Enugu State Command, the operatives swiftly responded to the information and engaged the criminal element. A firefight ensued, with the operatives tactically returning fire and eliminating the suspect. Other members of the criminal group managed to escape, but with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

During the operation, the police recovered a pump-action gun loaded with live cartridges, expended cartridges, suspected amulets, and a black inscribed “Special Constabulary” beret, along with a yellow-colored beret.

The success of the operation is attributed to the proactive policing strategies devised by the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), aimed at eradicating unrepentant criminals in the state. CP Uzuegbu commended the team for their excellent work and reassured the commitment of the Enugu State Command to continue the fight against crime. He urged the citizens to support the police in their efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
