Senate President appoints Lola Ashiru as new Deputy Leader
The Senate has a new Deputy Leader, as announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Lola Ashiru (APC, Kwara) has been appointed to the position, replacing Senator Dave Umahi who is now the Minister of Works.

Umahi was the previous Deputy Leader of the Senate before his resignation.
Ashiru was previously the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate.
Senator Peter Onyekachi (APC, Ebonyi) has been named as Ashiru’s replacement as the Deputy Chief Whip.
The announcement was made at the beginning of the plenary on Wednesday.
