Terrorists attack Benue Links bus, kill one passenger, injure others

A Benue Links bus traveling to Otukpo along the Naka road in the Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State fell victim to an attack by suspected bandits.
The assailants opened fire on the bus, resulting in the tragic death of one passenger and causing injuries to several others.
According to information, the route has been plagued by previous attacks carried out by roaming herders, who have subjected travellers to similar horrifying experiences.
Tyolaha village, in particular, has become a hotspot for persistent attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

In this recent incident, a group of 15 herdsmen overpowered the unsuspecting passengers preventing any effective resistance. They quickly dispersed and made their escape without facing any significant obstacles.
The frequent and continuous attacks have forced many residents to flee the area, while farmers have been compelled to relocate from the axis.
The remaining residents are have called upon the government and security operatives to urgently provide them with adequate protection against the violent criminals.
Confirming the incident, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Anekwe Catherine, told newsmen that an unidentified group of gunmen had targeted a bus belonging to Benue Links that was en route to Otukpo.
She said three individuals, including women, sustained injuries, and sadly, one person lost their life in the tragic incident.
