Tinubu appoints Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu as CEO of ICPC, other management members
In a significant move aimed at advancing the fight against corruption in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new management team for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), according to a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president.
This decision, driven by the Renewed Hope mandate to reform critical institutions, was conveyed through a State House press release today.

The newly appointed ICPC management team comprises two distinguished individuals:
1. Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu – Chairman / Chief Executive Officer, ICPC
2. Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu – Secretary to the Commission, ICPC
The President’s prerogative in making these appointments is rooted in Section 3(6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. These nominations are pending Senate confirmation.
The outgoing ICPC Chairman, whose tenure was set to conclude on February 3, 2024, sought the President’s approval to proceed on pre-end of tenure leave, beginning on November 4, 2023. President Tinubu granted this request, allowing the outgoing Chairman to transition out of office.
Notably, the appointment of the Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, does not require Senate confirmation and takes immediate effect based on the President’s directive.
Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the nominated Chairman, brings extensive experience to the role. He has been spearheading transformative reforms as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019. With a background that includes a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Law, Dr. Aliyu was designated as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in October 2023.
Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, the newly appointed Secretary, boasts over three decades of legal expertise. His public service record includes notable positions such as a Member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.
President Tinubu emphasized the need for the ICPC’s new leadership team to operate with unwavering integrity and diligence as they tackle corruption-related matters.
This decision marks a pivotal moment in the quest for transparency and accountability in Nigeria, as the nation’s anti-corruption efforts receive fresh leadership poised to uphold the law.
