Tinubu warns government officials, family against attending FEC meeting uninvited

In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu has issued a warning to government officials and family members, instructing them not to attend the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting without a formal invitation. Tinubu delivered this message before the commencement of the FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Expressing his concern, Tinubu noted that there had been instances of unauthorized entry and exit during previous council sessions. He stated that such behavior would no longer be tolerated.

During the announcement, Tinubu specifically mentioned the individuals who were granted exception to be present at the meeting: Hadiza Usman, Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Principal Private Secretary, and Damilotun Aderemi, Private Secretary. Tinubu emphasized that unless he personally sent for anyone, they should not attend the meeting.

To ensure strict adherence to his directive, Tinubu tasked the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, with taking note of his instructions. He stated that unless individuals were part of their staff and explicitly included, no one should have access to the FEC meeting.

Additionally, Tinubu emphasized the importance of well-articulated and accurate event planning related to the government.

While addressing ongoing speculations and rumors, Tinubu expressed his full confidence in the integrity of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. He urged an end to the campaign of calumny and insinuations surrounding his office.

Tinubu concluded by reiterating his position that mistakes can happen but assured everyone that he is open to hearing and correcting them. He emphasized that perfection belongs to God alone.

The warning by President Tinubu serves as a reminder to government officials and family members to respect protocol and maintain the integrity of the Federal Executive Council meetings.
