Woman files for divorce citing lack of love after 6 years of marriage
A woman named Rashidat Ahmed filed for divorce on Thursday, citing a lack of love, after six years of marriage with one child.
She filed at an Area Court in Center-Igboro Ilorin.
The respondent, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, said that he was still interested in the marriage with the petitioner.
Abdulsalam explained that he was surprised by the sudden change of attitude on the part of the petitioner, saying that the last time she spent in his house was peaceful.
“On that faithful day, she left our matrimonial home, I was rushing to the office in the morning and left feeding money for her because she took our kid to school and did not return on time.
“In the evening of that day, I called to ask after her and the kid when I didn’t meet them at home but there was no response, so I decided to check her at her mother’s house.

“I met her and the kid in her mother’s house as expected, but she insisted on staying there for some time, in order to rest because she was in her first stage of pregnancy,” he said.
However, the petitioner said that after a few weeks of staying with her mother and their child, he saw on social media that she was engaged to another man.
When he approached her for an explanation, she refused to explain and walked out on him.
Abdulsalam further said that when he received a court summons for divorce, he still approached her and asked about his child, but she didn’t grant him a hearing.
He then urged the court to allow him to plead with the petitioner to change her mind towards the divorce.
The presiding Judge Abdulkadir Ahmed said considering the plea for settlement from the respondent, the court would grant him one week to try his best.
The case was adjourned to October 19 for a report of settlement.
