President Tinubu, 5 Ministers depart to Germany for G20 Africa conference

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart from Abuja for Berlin, Germany, to attend the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference on November 20, 2023.

This was announced by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale.

He said the president will be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr Wale Edun; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The conference, hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, will take place alongside the Fourth G20 Investment Summit and will bring together heads of state, government officials, bilateral partners, international organisations, and business associations to discuss strategies to enhance economic and business cooperation.

The primary focus will be on boosting investments in critical areas such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies.

The President will lead Nigeria’s delegation to participate in the investment summit, strategically positioning Nigeria for increased foreign direct investment.

This visit also demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to diplomatic relations, reciprocating the German Chancellor’s visit to Nigeria in October.

Following productive meetings with German business officials during the Chancellor’s visit to Nigeria, President Tinubu emphasized the need for increased German investment in Nigeria in various sectors such as transportation, mining, and energy.

Noting the growing bilateral trade volume between Nigeria and Germany, the President aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

This journey marks President Tinubu’s 10th foreign destination since assuming office approximately six months ago, he is expected to return to Nigeria following the conclusion of the G20 Compact with Africa Conference in Berlin.
