One-Chance: FCT to banish operation of ‘Keke Napep’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared the imminent cessation of tricycle (Keke Napep) operations in specific Abuja areas. Emphasizing a commitment to eradicate the “one-chance” menace in the capital, Wike assured that Keke Napep would no longer operate in Asokoro and Maitama.

Wike outlined the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) forthcoming deployment of buses and taxis to address transportation challenges and curb criminal activities in the FCT.

He stated, “These buses and taxis will traverse all routes in Asokoro and Maitama. We are expelling Keke Napep, particularly in these areas, as some serve as accomplices to criminals.”

The former Governor of Rivers State emphasized that the introduction of buses would encourage people to commute from their residential areas to work and back, contributing to improved transportation efficiency.

Addressing Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations, Wike urged residents to cooperate by fulfilling their tax obligations, acknowledging the inconvenience but stressing its necessity.
