Court of Appeal upholds Tribunal’s verdict, declares Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa election inconclusive
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed Mr. Jamilu Lion Muhammed’s appeal against the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal, which declared the 2023 Election for Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency as inconclusive.
Mr. Lion, who ran on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, had challenged the result declared by INEC, which announced him as the winner of the election.
The Election Petition Tribunal, which sat in Katsina, declared the election inconclusive and ordered INEC to conduct a re-election in 20 polling units of Faskari and Kankara Local Councils.

In a press release issued on 3rd November 2023, Kabir Isa B, the SSA Media & Publicity for Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki’s office, revealed that the appeal court upheld the position of the tribunal in declaring the election inconclusive.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Moore Aseimo A. Adumein, delivered the ruling and also imposed a fine of N300,000 on Mr. Lion, payable to Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, the APC candidate in the election.
The Court of Appeal further directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct elections in the 20 polling units within 30 days from the day of the ruling.
