Court sacks Nasarawa State Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe, declares PDP lawmaker as Speaker

The Appeal Court in Abuja has sacked the incumbent Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, and declared Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim (Turakin-Opanda) of the People Democratic Party (PDP) as the Speaker following an election that took place on 18th March 2013.

The dramatic battle for the speakership position in Nasarawa State has been a cause for concern with Mr Abdullahi and Mr Daniel Ogah Ogazi, who represents Kokona East Constituency, embroiled in a fierce contest for the role.

The recent upheaval has led to the emergence of two speakers, adding to the already intensified tensions in the State House of Assembly.
