Government declares December 1 public holiday to mark Farmers’ Day

The Government, through the Ministry of Interior in Ghana, has declared Friday, 1st December as a public holiday to commemorate Farmers’ Day.

The Ghanaian Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, said the day is officially recognised as an annual celebration of farmers and fishermen.

A statement by the Minister read, “The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 1st December 2023, which marks Farmers’ Day, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

Neptune Prime gathered that the Ghanaian Ministry of Food and Agriculture will bestow special awards upon deserving farmers and fishermen for their outstanding practices and productive contributions on the day.

Farmers’ Day is usually observed on the first Friday of December each year.
