IPOB/ESN attack police checkpoint in Imo, kill 2 officers, other
IPOB/ESN carried out a deadly attack at the well-known Ahiara junction, Ahiara Mbaise in Imo state on Monday, resulting in the tragic death of two police officers while instilling fear among the area’s residents.
A disturbing video circulating on social media captured a heart-wrenching scene, with one police officer seen lifeless and another grappling with excruciating pain as community members attempted to assist him.
Imo Police Spokesman, Henry Okoye, verified the attack, informing that a combined team of military and police forces are actively at the crime scene to pursue and bring to justice the perpetrators of this violent act.

He stated, “The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, Commander 34 Artillery Brigade and Joint Task Force (JTF) operatives are meticulously scouring the crime scene for evidence that might lead to the apprehension of the culprits behind the ruthless attack that led to the death of two Policemen at Ahaira Junction, in Ahaizu Mbaise LGA of Imo State.”
Tragically, this attack follows closely on the heels of the abduction and killing of HRH Eze J B Ochulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, and the assassination of Hon. Smith Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze Ward in Ezinihitte Mbaise local government area.
The recent series of violent incidents in Imo State have left a trail of grief and anguish, underscoring the urgent need for concerted efforts to address the security challenges in the area.
