Story from Hamzat Ibrahim ABAGA

A seven-year-old boy named Abdul-Haayi has tragically died after falling into a domestic well in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, within the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement.

He said the unfortunate accident occurred on Monday evening when the child’s leg slipped, causing him to plummet into the well.

Tragically, the boy did not survive the fall, and the Fire Service was summoned to the scene to retrieve his body.

According to the Fire Service official, a neighbour, Mr Idowu, alerted them of the incident at approximately 05:28 PM, and they responded to the emergency call.

They successfully recovered the lifeless body from the well and handed the boy’s remains over to a family member identified as Mr. Yusuf.
