Lalong set to resign as Tinubu’s labour Minister
Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, is set to resign from his position in Tinubu’s administration, as reported exclusively by News Point Nigeria. Lalong has collected his Certificate of Return as Plateau South Senator from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
A source close to the minister, who requested anonymity, revealed that Lalong has communicated his intention to pursue his Senatorial career to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The source also mentioned that Lalong is yet to inform President Tinubu of his decision, but has met with the SGF and the Chief of Staff, who have wished him well. The source emphasized that the President has the final say on the matter.

In relation to the court ruling, the Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified the participation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its senatorial candidate in the February 25 National Assembly Election, Napoleon Bali, for Plateau South Senatorial District, which led to Lalong being declared as the Senator for the district.
It was held that the PDP and its candidate did not have the legal ground to participate in the election as they failed to obey the judgment of a Plateau High Court to conduct lawful elections for the purpose of having officers for Wards, Local Governments, and State Council.
The Court of Appeal upheld the declaration of Lalong as the lawful Senator for Plateau South Senatorial District.
