Nigeria Customs, AFRITAC West 2 join forces to strengthen risk management practices
The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, welcomed a delegation from AFRITAC West 2, a collaborative initiative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and partner countries, at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, 20 November, 2023.
AFRITAC West 2, working in partnership with Cabo Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, is committed to delivering technical assistance and training to member nations.
In his address to the delegation, the CGC expressed his dedication to enhancing the capabilities of Customs officers through training. Stressing the significance of broadening the scope of this initiative beyond Nigeria, he underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in the global trade arena.

Acknowledging the partnership, the Comptroller-General expressed support for AFRITAC’s proposal to conduct training programs specifically focused on risk management and trade facilitation. He emphasized the critical role of effective risk management in customs operations.
Eva Jenkner, Director of AFRITAC West 2, commended the Customs Boss for his leadership and proactive approach in revitalizing the Customs Service.
She outlined the purpose of their visit, emphasizing AFRITAC’s readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service in training officers and sharing insights into risk management and policy programs.
