The Super Falcons official handle congratulated Oshoala on this remarkable accomplishment, hailing her as a talented footballer who deserved the recognition.

The 20th place ranking was celebrated as a significant achievement for Africa.

In addition to Osimhen and Oshoala, Afrobeats star Rema also left a lasting impression at the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.

His captivating performance of the chart-topping track, “Calm Down,” made him the first-ever Afrobeats artist to perform at the prestigious awards.

The highly-anticipated Ballon d’Or prize was ultimately awarded to Argentine captain Lionel Messi, who faced tough competition from Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland led Manchester City to a treble last season, while Mbappe played a crucial role in leading France to a second consecutive World Cup final, narrowly losing to Messi and Argentina in a penalty shootout.
