Police in Abuja arrest man for killing his female employer
A shocking incident unfolded in Abuja, as Abraham Aliyu was apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for the alleged murder of his employer, Mrs. Dzuma Jidayi.
The arrest was announced by Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, during the parade of 43 suspects at the command headquarters on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
The crime, which took place on October 10, 2023, in the Garki area of the territory, initially appeared to be a stabbing case. However, a preliminary investigation uncovered a more sinister truth.
The suspect, who had been on the run, was an employee in the water factory owned by the deceased.
CP Haruna Garba revealed, “Investigation revealed that the suspect was an employee of the deceased and worked in her water factory. It happened that the suspect, in the course of his duties, caused damage to the water pipe. Hence the deceased seized his salary to effect repairs of the damaged pipe.”
The motive behind the brutal act emerged as a result of the suspect’s anger over the seized salary. In a fit of rage, he struck Mrs. Dzuma on the head with an iron rod, leading to her tragic death.
The commissioner further detailed, “The suspect, sensing that his madam had died, stole her handset, a bag containing her ATM cards and some cash and ran away from the scene.”
After weeks of pursuit, police operatives from the Homicide section finally apprehended Abraham Aliyu on November 12, 2023. He confessed to the crime and is set to face legal consequences.
CP Haruna Garba affirmed, “He has since confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court.”
This chilling incident serves as a reminder of the complexities that can arise in employer-employee relationships, escalating to a devastating outcome.
The accused is now in custody, awaiting legal proceedings for the reprehensible act.
