Suspected pirates allegedly ambush, kill four NSCDC personnel in Rivers
Four members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are feared dead following an ambush by gunmen suspected to be sea pirates in Bakana community, Rivers State.
A local resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Saturday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday.

According to the resident, the officers were shot and killed on the Bakana River in Degema Local Government Area by the sea pirates.
“Two of the victims who are Muslims have already been buried according to Islamic rites,” the eyewitness added.
Responding to the incident, the Spokesperson of NSCDC in Rivers, DSC Olufemi Ayodele, neither confirmed nor denied the killings, stating that the command would issue a statement as more facts unfold.
