Wike extends payment of ground rents in Abuja to December 14th
Following the expiration of the deadline for land allottees owing ground rents in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has extended the payment period until December 14, 2023.
In September, the FCT Administration published the land titles of individuals, corporate organizations, and government agencies, reminding them of their obligation to pay ground rent on January 1 each year as stated in their Certificates of Occupancy.

The publication, signed by FCTA Permanent Secretary Olusade Adesola, urged debtors to make payments within two weeks from the publication date, warning that failure to do so could lead to revocation of their titles.
The FCT Director of Information, Muhammad Sule, announced on Sunday that the minister had extended the deadline to December 14.
The FCTA is expecting to collect about N30 billion from the payment of ground rent debts in the territory.
“The FCTA reminds the public of the final notice for the settlement of outstanding ground rents. The grace period has ended, making way for the enforcement of associated sanctions. Considering the continued response from affected allottees and to accommodate those still in line to pay, the Minister has approved an extension of time until December 14, 2023.”
