Gunmen attack Kogi REC’s residence
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that a group of unknown gunmen launched an attack on the residence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lokoja, Kogi State, in the early hours of Friday.
“In the early hours of today, Friday 1st December 2023, around 3.30am, gunmen attacked the residence of our Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, Kogi State, INEC stated.
According to the statement, INEC reveal that the armed assailants engaged in a 30-minute gun battle with security personnel until reinforcements arrived. Although no lives were lost, property damage occurred during the exchange of gunfire.

INEC also shared photos of the aftermath, confirming the incident and stating that a team of combined security personnel has been deployed to safeguard the residence. This incident occurred a day after a mob besieged our state office.
“We call for a thorough investigation and enhanced security protection for our personnel and assets in Kogi State.”
