Adamawa man kills mother over allegation of witchcraft
A 30-year-old man in Adamawa State, Sadiq Idrissu, has reportedly shot his mother for allegedly being a witch.
The heart-wrenching event took place in Boga, Gombi Local Government Area of the state on the 5th of December, 2023.
Sadiq admitted to the killing without any remorse and expressed sympathy for his father for enduring his mother’s alleged witchcraft for so long.

He justified his actions by claiming that his mother had been haunting him as a witch in his dreams for the past two years, causing him distress and sleepless nights.
On the night of the tragic incident, Sadiq, under the influence of a toxic substance, broke into their family home searching for his mother.
He later found her outside and fatally shot her over the conviction that she was indeed a witch.
Confirming the heartbreaking occurrence, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, indicated that the suspect was apprehended based on a tip-off.
The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has directed the transfer of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
