From Okada Rider To First-Class Graduate: Toyinbo Ojuola’s inspiring story
An inspiring story of a young Nigerian man has emerged from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State.
Toyinbo Hezekiah Ojuola, a recent graduate from the department of animal breeding and genetics, emerged as the sole first-class student during FUNAAB’s 30th convocation.
After completing his secondary school education, Ojuola’s parents wanted him to learn a trade.
However, the determined young man was set on furthering his education at the university.
In an interview with the BBC, Ojuola who hails from Ipokia Local Government Area revealed that many of his companions had given up on university education and instead opted for marriage.

He said he was one of the best performers in his secondary school, which led his teachers to encourage him to enroll in FUNAAB.
Ojuola started his academic journey as a bricklayer before moving on to using motorcycles for business purposes.
He explained that some people were unaware that he attended school and only knew him as an Okada rider. Sometimes, he would use the motorcycle to transport bags of cement.
His words: “I never believed I would graduate with a 2’1. I was just doing my thing.
“When I saw that I graduated with a first-class, I was so happy.”
“Most people are not aware that I attended school.
“They only knew me as an Okada rider. Sometimes, I use the motorcycle to carry bags of cement.”
