Gombe LP candidate celebrates Danjuma’s 85th birthday, lauds his impact on leadership
The gubernatorial candidate for the Gombe State Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Keftin Amuga, has asserted that Nigeria could have avoided its current trajectory if retired General Theophilus Danjuma had assumed the presidency.
Amuga, also serving as the State Chairman of the Gombe State Middle Belt Forum, shared these sentiments on Saturday as he extended congratulations to Danjuma on his 85th birthday. In a personally signed message, Amuga hailed the octogenarian as both a leader and mentor.
Reflecting on the journey that began with the formation of the Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party in 1989, Amuga acknowledged the significant electoral approval garnered nationwide at the inception of the Second Republic Democratic dispensation, despite its unregistered status.
He expressed profound inspiration drawn from Danjuma’s attributes.

Amuga stated, “Since you guided us in the formation of the then Political Association of the People’s Solidarity Party- PSP, which should have emerged victorious in the General Election at the dawn of the Second Republic, had it been registered, I have been encouraged by your love for the Nigerian Nation, irrespective of ancestral divisions.”
Highlighting Danjuma’s wisdom and bravery as instrumental in guiding his political pursuits, Amuga added, “My leader’s deep comprehension and unwavering strength of character have served as a guiding light for me and numerous others.”
Emphasizing Danjuma’s enduring impact on his perception of leadership through qualities of modesty, discipline, and steadfastness, Amuga expressed firm belief, “I firmly believe that had Gen. T.Y Danjuma accepted the presidency of the Nigerian Nation, the country would have been spared from the current catastrophic state it finds itself in.
Nevertheless, I express steadfast faith in the leader’s capacity to continue leading with energy, not just in the entire Middle Belt Region, but also on a national level.”
Amuga revealed that Danjuma’s allegiance to the Nigerian Nation transcends ancestral divisions, “Serving as evidence of our dedication to national cohesion. His resolute stance on the unity of the Nigerian Nation is steadfast and non-negotiable. Gen. T.Y Danjuma’s steadfast dedication to combating the oppression of the less privileged and his unwavering readiness to uplift the downtrodden. These qualities exemplify his unwavering commitment to social justice and equality,” Amuga added.
