Governors mourn Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu

Governors of the 36 states in Nigeria have expressed profound sorrow and grief over the untimely passing of their colleague and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor mourned the loss of Akeredolu in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday.

Commending Akeredolu as an exceptional statesman who left an enduring legacy in public service, Governor AbdulRazaq conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Progressives Governors’ Forum, the government and people of Ondo State, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and Akeredolu’s immediate family.

“A frontline lawyer and conscientious politician of progressive bent, His Excellency would be remembered for his courage, patriotism, and immeasurable contributions to the constitutional and sociopolitical development of Nigeria.

“As painful as his exit is to all of us, we take solace in his fine legacies as a gentleman and statesman. We ask God to repose his soul and look after his family.”

Neptune Prime reports that Akeredolu passed on in the early hours of Wednesday in Germany where he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Before his final journey abroad, Akeredolu transmitted power to the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa after he presented a letter to the state House of Assembly informing the lawmakers of his resolve to embark on another medical vacation.
