Gunmen in Lagos trail, abduct 13-year-old girl on her way home from school

A 13-year-old school girl, Miracle Adereti Kolawole, has been kidnapped by armed criminals while returning home from school on Friday, December 1st, in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Her father, Mr Adereti Oluwadare Segun, recounted dropping Miracle and her younger sister at the bus stop where the school bus usually pick them in the morning. He departed for his work at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), where he serves as an air traffic communicator with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

Later in the afternoon, he received a troubling call informing him of his daughter’s abduction.

The Afonka Police Station in Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos, received the report of the incident on the same day.

The police Command revealed that Inspector Ogidiolu Olajimi is overseeing the investigation and search efforts.

According to the police incident report, witnesses detailed how the gang trailed the school bus, parked nearby, and then seized Miracle as she and her sister walked home.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Adereti expressed, “We woke up early to prepare the kids for school before i dropped them at the bus stop. We had no indication of such a cruel act by this gang, who falsely claimed, as a politician, I possess adequate funds to secure my daughter’s release.”

He continued, “We’ve been threatened not to involve the authorities. However, as a family, we are in distress and have no recourse but to seek assistance from law enforcement.

“I implore the dedicated officers of the Nigeria Police Force to urgently pursue these offenders. Their demands for a ransom pose a threat to our lives.”

Mr. Adereti appealed for police presence at his residence for interim security, “The situation has deeply affected my family. I earnestly request immediate intervention to bring these criminals to justice and ensure our safety.”
