How scavenger in Rivers State seized police officer’s AK-47 rifle, fired shots at civilians
An accused suspect identified as Nuhu went on a shooting rampage after stabbing a police inspector multiple times and seizing his AK-47 rifle in the Ada-George area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The hoodlum, believed to be a scavenger, also assaulted another police officer who attempted to stop him before fleeing the scene.
Bystanders and colleagues of the injured officer pursued Nuhu until he disappeared out of sight.

Upon reaching a location known as ‘Boro Pit,’ the assailant recklessly fired shots with the stolen rifle, shooting one man down before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
When the police approached, the culprit reportedly became aggressive and attempted to engage them in a shootout, leading to his eventual demise.
A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “This man (Nuhu) is believed to be on drugs. Even when the policemen saw him, he tried to shoot them, and they repelled and shot him dead.”
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and said that the unidentified person shot by the miscreant and the latter, shot by authorities, had both perished.
Iringe-Koko elaborated, “Rivers State Police Command on November 16, 2023, at about 1500 hrs received a message from DPO Rumukpakani Division that one hoodlum (male) identity not fully known, ran towards Inspector Ade Rotimi by Ada Gorge Road, stabbed the officer multiple times on his head, and collected his rifle.”
“He also injured one Inspector Bala Yusuf on his hand and ran towards the Boro Pit Area.
“He started firing indiscriminately and shot two unidentified civilians before operatives swooped on him and prevented him from creating more havoc.”
