Husband beats wife to death for making noodles for dinner
Story from Fatima Adamu, Abuja.
In a harrowing incident in the Olota area of Alimosho Local Government of Lagos State, a husband stands accused of murdering his wife over her failure to prepare a substantial meal.
According to reports, on Thursday, December 14, after returning home from work, the suspect was displeased to find
that his wife had only cooked noodles.
In a horrifying escalation, he purportedly struck her on the crown of her head with a heavy object and proceeded to beat her severely.
After the brutal assault, the assailant reportedly left his battered wife at home and went out.
Subsequently, a concerned neighbour contacted the husband later on informing him that his wife was experiencing convulsions.
Efforts were made to rush the ailing woman to the hospital, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries en route.
The brother of the deceased victim reported the shocking incident to the Meiran Police Division, resulting in the arrest of the husband.
According to a police source, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti for further investigation.
The police source revealed, “It was the brother of the deceased who came to report the matter.
“He said the husband killed his sister. However, conflicting details have emerged, as the police find it challenging to ascertain if the husband was indeed the perpetrator.
The source emphasised the difficulty in determining the cause of death, considering the family had reportedly buried the deceased according to Islamic rites before reporting the incident to the police.
The source added, “There is no indication yet, but we cannot say that we stop investigation. We will allow justice to prevail and the district unit to perform its duties to know if it was the husband who beat her to death as claimed.”

The police faced challenges obtaining information from neighbours who were unwilling to provide details about the incident.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased reportedly visited the police station to express forgiveness towards the son-in-law, not minding if the allegations were true.
In contrast, the deceased’s brother insisted that the husband was responsible for his sister’s tragic demise, recounting that she was struck with an object and left in their apartment.
The brother said the neighbour’s distress call reporting the woman’s convulsions came too late as she had already lost her life before medical help came.
