Iran, Cuba set to form coalition to resist bullying from US, other Western nations

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel met in Tehran to discuss the potential for a coalition between their nations to counteract what they perceive as bullying by the United States and its Western partners.

During this historic gathering, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the need to harness the great political and economic capacities of both Iran and Cuba, proposing the formation of an alliance to unite countries that share similar positions against the alleged bullying tactics of the US and its Western allies.

He highlighted the potential for economic cooperation within this coalition and its ability to address significant global issues, particularly the ongoing Palestinian struggle.

Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed his hopes for increased collaboration between Iran and Cuba, encompassing various sectors, including science, and called for the implementation of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding.

President Díaz-Canel echoed Ayatollah Khamenei’s sentiments, emphasising the need for closer ties, particularly in economic and commercial areas.

He also called for joint efforts to counter interventionist measures and sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

The Cuban president also denounced the ongoing situation in Gaza as an “unacceptable genocide,” underlining the need for both countries to play a significant role in addressing global issues such as the Palestinian conflict and highlighting the silence of international organizations in the face of the loss of innocent lives in the region.

Overall, the meeting between the leaders of Iran and Cuba highlighted their shared stance on global issues, and their determination to work together to address common challenges while advancing their mutual interests.
