Man disguises as woman, assaults wife for shop supplies
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a man, Tijjani Ahmadu Diye, for assaulting his wife under the guise of securing money to restock his provisions store.
The 35-year-old man disguised as a woman and raised a false alarm in his residence, claiming that armed robbers had infiltrated the compound.
The Bauchi State Police Command has charged Tijjani Ahmadu Diye with offenses including assault, causing grievous harm, and attempting culpable homicide.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, detectives from the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Bauchi arrested Tijjani Ahmadu Diye on December 2, 2023.

Following the report, a team of detectives promptly responded, evacuating the victim to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, for necessary medical attention.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect readily admitted to the allegations during interrogation by police operatives.
In his confession, the suspect disclosed that he initiated a false alarm about armed robbers, prompting him to instruct his wife to cover her head with a scarf. Subsequently, he armed himself with a pestle, re-entered the room, and assaulted her, expressing an intent to sell their television to raise funds for his struggling shop.
Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Mohammed has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet inquiry into the alleged incident. Following this, the suspect will face prosecution in court.
