National Assembly to pass 2024 budget on December 30
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has announced that the 2024 budget proposal will be passed on December 30, 2023.
During Tuesday’s plenary session, the lawmaker representing Zaria Federal Constituency conveyed this important information on the floor of the Green Chamber.
He also directed Committee Chairmen to submit reports of the budget defense conducted by the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies by 8 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, as requested by the Appropriation Committee.

The 2024 Appropriation Bill, presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on November 29, 2023, proposed a budget of N27.5 trillion for the fiscal year.
President Tinubu themed the 2024 budget as the “Budget of Renewed Hope,” with the goal of achieving economic growth, stability, improved investment environment, human capital development, poverty reduction, and enhanced social security.
The following breakdown of the critical allocations in the 2024 budget revealed substantial provisions for various sectors:
– Education: N2.18 trillion (7.9% of Budget)
– Health: N1.33 trillion (5% of Budget)
– Defence and Security: N3.25 trillion (12% of Budget)
– Infrastructure: N1.32 trillion (5% of Budget)
– Social Development & Poverty Reduction Programmes: N534 billion (2% of Budget)
