Nine individuals have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto State for producing and selling pillows filled with used diapers and sanitary pads.
The arrests were made following an intelligence report, according to the state’s Commandant, Bello Alkali Argungun.
Argungun explained that the suspects used young children to obtain the waste materials, which they then stuffed into pillowcases bearing the logos of well-known foam companies.
This practice, he warned, poses a significant health risk to users as they may contract diseases without realizing the cause.

Argungun urged members of the public to engage in legitimate businesses, emphasizing the importance of avoiding illicit activities.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and once completed, the suspects will be brought before a court of law.
