NUJ applauds Governor Buni, YEDC for swift restoration of power in Yobe
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe Council, has praised Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe for his role in reinstating the electricity supply in Damaturu, the state capital.
The union’s commendation is detailed in a statement released by the council’s Chairman, Alhaji Rajab Mohammed, and provided to newsmen in Damaturu on Sunday.
Neptune Prime recalls that two 330KV power towers, transporting electricity from Gombe to the state, were recently vandalised by suspected insurgents.
The incident, which occurred in the Kasesa area of Damaturu, plunged Yobe and its residents into a blackout that endured for more than 30 hours.

Mohammed stated that Buni’s exceptional leadership during this period was crucial for restoring power in the capital city.
“Recall that immediately after the incident occurred, the governor contacted the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
“That call resulted in the contract award for the reconstruction of the vandalised towers.
“The governor also directed the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to promptly restore the 33KV line from Potiskum to Damaturu,” he said.
The NUJ chairman also commended YEDC for its prompt response in restoring electricity to Damaturu and urged TCN to ensure the swift reconstruction of the towers.
He called on the people of the state to continue praying for peace and prosperity in the country.
He wished the Christian faithful a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
