Police arrest 18-year-old female student acting as informant to bandits

The Niger State Police have apprehended Zubaida Sanusi, an 18-year-old female student at the Niger State College of Health Sciences in Kontagora over her alleged involvement as an informant for a notorious bandit named Umar Aliyu, alias Babuga Datijo.

The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, revealed that Zubaida Sanusi’s arrest followed the apprehension of the notorious bandit, Umar Aliyu.

During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the wanted bandits, Shaibu Haruna, was in contact with the student and his contact in the girl’s phone was saved as “Kudin-banza” (useless money in Hausa language).

Zubaida Sanusi reportedly confessed that she was introduced to Shaibu by a woman named Aisha Mohammed.

It was further disclosed that Shaibu, in exchange for information, would lavish money on her and engage in a transactional relationship involving monetary exchange for sexual favours.

The police commissioner highlighted that efforts to capture other members of Aliyu’s gang led to the revelation of a phone number in Kontagora linked to the suspected student. This discovery unveiled additional connections between bandits and individuals within the community.

Also, the police arrested two other individuals, Motse Mohammed (47) and Aliya Mohammed (48), residents of Salka in Magama LGA, the suspects were reportedly involved in contacting bandits and acting as informants in a series of attacks.

Investigations revealed that ten thousand naira was transferred to the informants by the bandits through a Point of Sale (POS) transaction in Salka.

The arrest of Zubaida Sanusi and the associated revelations underscore the complex network of interactions that facilitate criminal activities, prompting law enforcement to intensify efforts to dismantle such networks and enhance security measures in the region.
