Tragedy in Plateau as lone accident kills 12, injures 30 persons
Twelve persons have lost their lives on Thursday when a lorry crashed in Plateau State.
The accident also left 30 others with severe injuries.
The incident occurred at the Hawan-Kibo community of Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) in Plateau State.
According to reports, the lorry was transporting bags of grains and people, and while descending a hill on a deteriorated road, it crashed into a ditch in the afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said that the lorry spilled its contents in the ditch, leading to many of the victims losing their lives at the scene.
Mr Godwin Alphonsus, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State, said the accident, “Was a lone crash.”
“The lorry was carrying bags of grains and human beings. It had a brake failure and crashed into a ditch while ascending a hill. The accident happened in the afternoon on Thursday,” he said.
