V.P Shettima, deputy Senate President attend burial of Ghali Na’Abba in Kano

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin among other prominent personalities were present as the remains of Alhaji Ghali Na’Abba, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, were laid to rest in Kano on Wednesday.

Na’Abba’s body was flown into the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport from Abuja, where it was received by grieving family members, friends, and top government functionaries around 3 p.m.

A somber procession followed, conveying the late Speaker’s body to the Emir’s palace for a poignant funeral prayer held at about 5:30 p.m.

The prayer, led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zahradeen, gathered a multitude paying their respects.

Na’Abba, who battled a protracted illness, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.

Other top government officials that attended the funeral are the deputy governor of Kano State Alhaji Aminu Abdulsalam, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu-Sumaila representing Kano South senatorial district, former governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Rabiu Kwankwaso, and former governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Sule Lamido, along with several members of the state and National Assembly.

The farewell ceremony served as a moment of reflection on the legacy of a political luminary.
