Woman burned alive after turning down marriage proposal from childhood female friend who is now a man
In a chilling incident that has left the community in shock, a woman named R. Nandhini was brutally murdered and burned alive by her childhood friend, Vetrimaran, who had transitioned from female to male.
The two had been friends since childhood, but their relationship took a dark turn when Vetrimaran proposed marriage to Nandhini, which she rejected.
On December 24, 2023, Vetrimaran lured Nandhini on a motorcycle ride under the guise of surprising her with a gift.

However, this turned into a nightmare when Nandhini found herself bound and pleading for release while facing a vicious assault by Vetrimaran with a knife.
Tragically, Nandhini was then doused in kerosene and set on fire before Vetrimaran fled the scene.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gowtham Goyal, shared chilling details of the incident.
Nandhini was taken to a vacant plot where she was restrained, attacked, and ultimately set ablaze. Despite the horror of his actions, Vetrimaran returned to the scene and cooperated when the police contacted him. He even assisted in rushing Nandhini to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her severe injuries.
Vetrimaran has since been arrested on charges of murder, while the investigation into this harrowing crime continues.
The entire community is left shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of Nandhini, and the police are committed to seeking justice for her and her loved ones.
