Kidnappers kill one of six sisters abducted in Abuja
A young lady identified as Najeebah has been reportedly killed by gunmen who abducted her and five other sisters in Abuja.
According to sources, Najeebah and her sisters were abducted on January 9, alongside their father. The gunmen later released their father, demanding N60 million as ransom for her daughters’ release before January 12.
Efforts were made to raise the ransom through public donations but fell short of the required amount. As a consequence, the abductors allegedly killed Najeebah and left her body for her parents to bury, as confirmed by former Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami.

“Inna lil Laahi wa inna ilaiHi Raajiun! I just read about the killing of our daughter Najeeba (400 level, ABU). I also spoke with her father about the remaining 5 of our kidnapped daughters. May Allah forgive her, rescue others & bring absolute peace to Nigeria,” Pantami said in a post on his X handle.
Following the tragic incident, Nigerians on social media urged security agencies to swiftly and safely rescue the remaining girls.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, reassured the public that the police were working to rescue the remaining victims and appealed for necessary information to aid in their efforts.
Former aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, also called on the police to prioritise the case and deploy all necessary resources for the safe rescue of the remaining victims.
“Following our exchanges with @PoliceNG Public Relations Officer, @PrinceMoye1, I have spoken with a relative of Najeebah,” Ahmad later stated. “Now, with the authorities involved, we are hopeful that #NajeebahAndHerSisters will be swiftly and safely rescued and reunited with their family.”
This development has sparked widespread concern and sadness, and the public continues to pray for the safe rescue of the remaining kidnapped sisters.
