Tinubu initiates Special Presidential Panel to audit social investment programmes
President Bola Tinubu has authorised the establishment of a Special Presidential Panel to scrutinize and audit the existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programme.
This move comes after Tinubu’s decision to suspend the four programmes under the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) for a period of six weeks. NSIPA is under the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
The panel will be overseen by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun.
According to a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the Panel has been mandated to immediately conduct a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programmes.

This is with the objective of implementing a complete overhaul of the financial architecture of the programmes, along with detailed modifications to procedures guiding the programmes’ implementation going forward.
The Special Presidential Panel will feature six ministers representing key sectors, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort.
The members of the panel include the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Wale Edu as Chairman; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and Minister of State for Youth.
Ngelale also stated that Tinubu has high hopes for the Special Presidential Panel, anticipating that it will regain public confidence in these crucial programmes by ushering in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks.
These measures will aim to prevent abuse and incompetence while providing exclusive benefits to disadvantaged households across the nation.
