Hoodlums attack Ekiti Teaching Hospital, steal dead body

A disturbing incident has happened at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, where suspected hoodlums attacked doctors and health workers and stole a corpse.

After the horrible attack, the Association of Resident Doctors has declared an indefinite strike.

The attack occurred at the accident and emergency ward, resulting in the destruction of facilities and the theft of a deceased individual believed to be related to one of the assailants.

Expressing their concern for the safety of their members, the association addressed a letter to the hospital’s chief medical director, Kayode Olabanji, stating their decision to embark on an immediate and indefinite strike.

The association highlighted the vulnerability of its members, who had been accommodating in light of the state government’s non-implementation of their demands for improved welfare, which includes addressing issues of poor remuneration, pay disparity, and local brain drain.

The letter, signed by the association’s president, Famous Adeyemi, condemned the assault on its members and the destruction of hospital equipment during the attack. It urged the hospital management and Governor Abiodun Oyebanji to ensure the swift arrest of the culprits responsible for the violence.
