INEC engages Borno stakeholders to ensure hitch-free by-election in Chibok

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is engaging all necessary stakeholders to ensure a hitch-free state Assembly by-election in Chibok constituency of Borno.

The Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Borno, Mr Abba Liberty, made this known on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Liberty said that the commission had been engaging participants in the election in Chibok, including security agencies.

“We have been engaging security agencies and they have assured us of enough security,” Liberty said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that INEC is conducting the Chibok by-election following the death of the initial winner of the 2023 election, late Nuhu Clerk.
