30 feared killed in Plateau as soldiers, gunmen clash
Several lives were reportedly lost during a confrontation between soldiers and armed individuals in two villages of the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred shortly after Governor Caleb Mutfwang relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the area. Mutfwang had announced that, due to improved security, the curfew would now be in effect from 8 am to 4 pm.
According to sources, approximately 30 gunmen were killed, and several soldiers sustained injuries during the clash at Satguru and Tyop villages.

An anonymous security official revealed that the gunmen launched an attack on communities along Gindri road around 7 to 7:30 am. The soldiers promptly intervened, resulting in the death of around 30 gunmen, with more than 50 others being apprehended along with their weapons and ammunition. Additionally, four soldiers were injured during the skirmish.
Another undisclosed source in the area corroborated the incident and highlighted that fear is still prevalent among the local populace.
As of now, the spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, the multi-security taskforce responsible for maintaining peace in the area, has yet to respond to inquiries made by media correspondents.
