ABU to honour Justice Lawal Uwais, Ambassador Chihombori-Quao, late Adamu Fika with Honorary Degrees

Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has authorised the prestigious awarding of Honorary Degrees to three distinguished personalities during its forthcoming 43rd Convocation Ceremony.

The accolade, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Visitor to the University, acknowledges the remarkable contributions of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Muhammadu Lawal Uwais, GCON; the late Wazirin Fika, Malam Adamu Mu’azzam Fika, GCON; and the former African Union Representative to the United Nations, Her Excellency, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao.

In line with ABU’s statutes, Justice Uwais will receive the Doctor of Laws (LL.D) Honoris Causa, post-humously, the late Adamu Fika is recommended for the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) Honoris Causa, and Ambassador Chihombori-Quao will be honored with the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Honoris Causa.

According to the Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar, “The decision to confer Honorary Degrees upon these esteemed individuals aligns with the institution’s commitment to recognising outstanding accomplishments and contributions to society.”

The statement further highlights the remarkable achievements of each Honorary Degree recipient, underscoring their impactful careers and unwavering dedication to their respective fields.

Both Justice Uwais and the late Adamu Fika have left indelible marks within the Nigerian judiciary and have contributed significantly to national development.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Chihombori-Quao’s unwavering commitment to strengthening African unity and advocating for the continent’s interests on the global stage is a testament to her exceptional leadership.

All three deserving honorees have graciously accepted ABU’s decision to confer them with honorary degrees during the upcoming Convocation Ceremony, signifying a proud moment in recognition of their immense contributions to society.
